Officers from the SFPD brought more than 100 gifts for children living at Ping Yuen Housing Project in Chinatown. Children lined up for their turn to select a toy they liked, while parents were happy to join in for a photo with Santa.

Chinatown Community Development Center, the co-organizer of today’s event, said many parents living here were always busy for work, and their children seldom receive gifts for Christmas. CCDC hopes the gifts these children got will help light up their Christmas this year.

The gifts were collected by SFPD at 49er games, or bought by the department with donated funds. The SFPD has been distributing Christmas gifts to low income families in San Francisco for the last 17 years.
