Fremont police said two hit-and-run drivers struck and killed a 56-year-old male transient. The police haven’t yet released the identity of the victim.
The incident happened at about 7:42 p.m. Monday on Ardenwood Boulevard just south of Highway 84.
According to the police, the victim was crossing southbound on Ardenwood Boulevard outside a crosswalk and was hit by an SUV traveling southbound on Ardenwood Boulevard. It struck the victim knocking him to the ground and continued traveling southbound on Ardenwood Boulevard.
A second vehicle behind the SUV then ran over the victim while he was on the ground. The second vehicle also fled the scene.
The victim was transported by Paramedics Plus to Eden Hospital in Castro Valley where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the SUV is described as possibly being a silver Toyota Rav 4. The second vehicle is described as a 2003-2007 Honda Accord with right front end damage.
