Two well known politicians in the south bay Chinese American community are running for the District 5 seat on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.  Kris Wang, former Cupertino supervisor who had served 2 terms as mayor and 2 terms as vice mayor, announced her candidacy today becoming the second Chinese American candidate for this seat. Earlier this week Barry Chang, Cupertino city councilman also announced his candidacy.

The District 5 seat is open now because of the term for current supervisor Liz Kniss expired. Santa Clara County voters in the district will decide who will represent them in June. The cities in district 5 include Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Monte Sereno, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Saratoga, Stanford, Sunnyvale, and West San Jose neighborhoods.

Besides Kris Wang and Barry Chang, there are others interested in the open seat including state Senator Joe Simitian.
