(This is an excerpt from organizers’ press release)
On Saturday, December 10th, Filipino community organizations and the SF Progressive Workers Alliance join the Occupy SF march to demand “Human Rights and Dignity for the 99%”. Filipino, Chinese, Latino and Black community members will march to represent the working-class communities of the 99%.
They will join hundreds to march through the Financial District, denouncing human rights abuses towards immigrant communities and workers in the United States, and highlighting the parallels between state repression of activism and free speech in the Philippines and here in the United States.
The march begins at Justin Herman Plaza, where San Francisco police dismantled the Occupy SF encampment this past Wednesday morning, then unsuccessfully attempted to repress peaceful assembly the next evening.
At 4pm, a program featuring immigrant communities and worker speakers will be held at Powell and Market.
