JOB/POSITION # (WWEF): 6075
COORDINATES WITH: Director, ews Production Assistant, Operations Department.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate tape machine during newscast. Retrieve all news videotapes and return to appropriate shelf. Rewind newscast for rebroadcast. Properly load tapes into playback machines and roll tapes during newscast as instructed by director.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure all news footage is in the assigned machine and play footage on director cue. Let director know when a story is not yet for air and update director as to its status.
Retrieve all news tapes used for the reports and return to shelf. Record newscast for rebroadcast. Time each segment and write a daily report to Master Control for use in rebroadcast.
Review rundown and verify availability of tapes; confirm that all tapes are properly cued; load and cue first four tapes; roll tapes as instructed by Director; reload tapes in correct machine as indicated on rundown; load graphics as needed prior to news.
The responsibilities of a tape operator may include loading/operating dubner, operating teleprompter, studio or ENG camera, program evaluation, commercial voice-overs and other various duties.
