BAY AREA LIFE™ TV RECEIVES TWO COVETED 24th ANNUAL 2003 TELLY® AWARDS

FREMONT, CA, May 28, 2003 Bay Area Life™ Television (www.bayarealifetv.com), a unique broadcast magazine forum for emerging artists, authors, musicians, entrepreneurs, community leaders, film makers and celebrities, has received two coveted bronze Telly® awards. The Telly awards honor outstanding non-network (i.e., cable) film/video and TV programs. Bay Area Life TV was honored for two of its shows: one on the local Afghan community following September 11th, and the other on Deanna Brown and her San Jose, CA-based Self Mastery Institute (www.selfmasteryinstitute.com) which has been successful in working with at-risk kids and their families, by "providing the means and momentum to transform one's life beyond the measure of circumstance." Sponsored by local businesses and organizations, Bay Area Life TV is seen every Friday morning at 1:00 a.m. on KTSF, Channel 26, on the extended Bay Area Cable Network, reaching over two-and-a-half million people in the San Francisco/Silicon Valley/Bay Area.

According to Bay Area Life TV founder, executive producer and co-host, Eileen Bartlett-Calvillo, "After only two years on the air, we are delighted to have now received a total of three prestigious Telly awards. Our piece on the Afghan community, where we drew an analogy between the internment of the Japanese during World War II and how we needed to guard against that kind of response in the face of September 11th vis-à-vis our Afghan neighbors, came partially out of my own experience as an Asian-American born in Hawaii. Since we have the largest community of Afghans in America living in the Bay Area, it is gratifying to have achieved this kind of recognition from our peers in the nationwide cable industry. We were also glad to have provided well-deserved exposure for Deanna Brown and her Self Mastery Institute, a program that keeps at-risk youth out of gangs, in school and working toward becoming the community leaders of tomorrow. Starting from an all-volunteer organization, the program is now approved by the San Jose Eastside Union High School District Board of Trustees. We thank the Telly Awards for this great honor and look forward to many more Bay Area Life TV shows that reflect the diversity, richness and creative contributions of Bay Areans. By highlighting the untold stories, talents and achievements of the Bay Area we serve a special niche for viewers looking for insights and information beyond the 30-second sound bite of most network TV shows. Our kind of ‘reality TV' aims to inspire and inform by giving a voice to the new."

About the TELLY Awards
The Telly Awards were founded in 1980, to showcase and give recognition to outstanding non-network and cable commercials. The competition was expanded several years ago to include film and video productions. Over the past 23 years, the Telly Awards have become a well-known, highly respected national competition. The Telly has become one of the most sought-after awards in the TV, commercial and video industry. The Telly statuette has even appeared on the set of many prime-time TV shows, such as thirtysomething, Murder, She Wrote, Newhart, News Radio, and most recently in the movie "What Women Want."
